Australian Idol - Series 1: UncutIcon_movClass_G

2003, 140 minutes, Rated G

The Australian Idol phenomenon deserves its own DVD. Television is a great medium but it's so fast and edited that you miss some of the truly great moments that we caught on tape.

And boy what you are about to see... will make your toes curl.

Never-before-seen footage, Uncut, unedited brilliance from some of the true characters that came out of the woodwork to audition for Australian Idol.

If you haven't been watching the show, it's like a giant pyramid. We start from the bottom and work our way to the top. From the try hard deluded to the absolutely brilliant and everywhere in between.

Let me first explain the goal of Australian Idol. the objective of the competition is to find the very best undiscovered talent in Australia. As judges, we assess each performance in 3 categories: Vocal ability, looks, and star quality: (the indefinable magic we constantly refer to as the X factor).

Now several of the finalists posted pretty decent scores in each of the three categories; there were many constestants in the top 100 who maybe only excelled in one or two categories... and there were literally hungreds of young hopefuls who... well let's say they failed to trouble the scorer in any categories whatsoever. And it is these people that fascinate me...

So, if you don't sing well, you don't look good and you have next to no star quality what on earth compels you to highlight this on national television?
