The residents of Dalkeith Residential Home are leading a predictable, mundane life while waiting out their last dying days. They develop a new lease of life, however, when staff at the home buy them a greyhound which they name Dalkeith. Trained to become a competitive racer by staff and residents, the excitement around Dalkeith reaches fever pitch when their mascot his the track. But when management decides to end the fun, a dowdy pensioner and once high profile barrister (AFI winner Ray Barrett) challenges the decision in court to the chagrin of management and the glee of the Dalkeith faithful.
