1998, 120 minutes, Rated M

From the celebrated director of Deliverance and Excalibur - John Boorman - comes The General, a salute to the real-life story of Martin Cahill, Ireland's most infamous gang leader.

Brendan Gleeson (from Troy) stars as Cahill, a working-class gangster who attained mythic status as a modern-day Robin Hood by pulling brazen robberies and sharing the spoils with charities and neighbours. Jon Voight (from The Manchurian Candidate) plays the dedicated police chief who, despite grudgingly admiring Cahill, is sworn to bring him down... if the IRA don't beat him to it!
