Cory Wheeler (Deborah Harry) is a struggling rock & roll singer who makes her living after midnight selling phone sex. One evening, an anonymous customer calls, claiming he has a woman tied up and requests a menage a trois. Cory plays along, until the caller proceeds to violently kill the woman, talking Cory through every detail of his gory murder and excitedly relaying the woman's screams. Frightened and horrified, Cory goes to the police.
When Cory explains what happened to a police detective, she is laughed at and sent home. As she storms out of the building, Nick Ciccini (James Russo) offers his help. A cop who wants very much to make detective, he sees this as a creative opportunity for a speedy promotion.
From here, Cory and Nick unwittingly plunge into a terrifying cat-and-mouse hunt with a deranged killer, Malcolm Henthoff (Tim Thomerson). Intimate Stranger is a thrilling, psychological and suspense-filled film centered around the seedy underside of Los Angeles.
