Life has just begun for Andy Hardy (Mickey Rooney). As a recent graduate from school he is convinced by Betsy Booth (Judy Garland) to move to New York to find a job. Unimpressed, Andy's parents try to convince him to attend college, but the lure of the big city proves too much for Andy. Once there, he is shocked by the loose morals of the people he meets and grapples with the idea of attending college.
