There's a promise of fresh beginnings in Pearl Bay. Strengthened by recent battles, the community is more united ever and ready to face any challenges that lie ahead.
Experience has made Laura a wary woman. Max suggests that they should take their relationship further, however, Laura foresees disaster. It's best they remain friend, leaving Laura to fantasise about the perfect man... until Mr Uncomplicated enters her life.
Elsewhere, life in Pearl Bay is moving at a rapid pace. Phrani opens a new cafe and Max and Carmen set about establishing the new local paper, The Oyster. Karen returns from her travels a worldly woman, Heather takes over the real estate office after Bob's licence is suspended and even Kevin is consumed by moments of restlessness. Meanwhile, Meredith and Harold contemplate their place among the older folk of Pearl Bay.
