1959, 85 minutes, Rated E
When Frank Sinatra recorded his popular TV variety show in the late-1950s, the velvet-voiced jazz songstree Ella Fitzgerald was one of his most revered guests.
With talent, and a vocal ranges, the envy of even the great Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald joins the awestruck crooner on "Can't We Be Friends"; while singing solo on an impressive list of tracks including "Love Walked Right In", "Lazy Afternoon" and "Just You, Just Me".
Shot on location in December, 1959 at the peak of Frank and Ella's stratospheric careers, the show, which also includes collaborations between Sinatra, vocal group the Hi-Lo's and Can Can star Juliet Prowse, stands as a rare showcase of two of the 20th century's most popular and enduring performers.
