1998, 113 minutes, Rated R

"If there was a trip to be taken, they were there."

Cult director and ex-Pythin member Terry Gilliam (Brazil, Time Bandits, Monty Python & The Holy Grail, The Fisher King and Twelve Monkeys) vivdly brings to the screen Hunter S. Thompson's 1971 drug-crazed road trip classic "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey into the Heart of the American Dream".

Thompson's alter-ego, sports journalist Raoul Duke, and his American Samoan lawyer, Doctor Gonzo, hit the road for Las Vegas in their convertible, "the Red Sharl", to cover a desert motorcycle race. Fueled with a massive amount of drugs, brought on the advance from a magazine, they're out to take hedonism to the max, indulging in every vice that comes their way in a search for their own take on the American dream.

Academy Award nominee Johnny Depp as Raoul and Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro as Gonzo aided and abetted, in cameo performances, by Cameron Diaz, Tobey Maguire, Harry Dean Stanton, Christina Ricci, Ellen Barkin, Gary Buesy, Lyle Lovett and many more make a pure assault on the sense in this mind-numbing film that'll take you on one 'trip' you'll never forget.
