A diamond hunter (Billy Zane) agrees to take an American couple deep into the jungles of Borneo in search of a raw diamond. The hunter and the wife (Paris Jefferson) are immediately attracted to each other. The husband (Keith Carradine), an arrogant genius whose career has faltered, becomes jealous of their rapport. Before they can begin the journey, the couple is lured away from the hunter by a diamond "pirate".
The pirate shows the couple an unbelievably beautiful diamond and promises to find them one of equal value. The hunter warns them that this criminal will certainly kill them, but the husband refuses to listen. Together, the couple journey into the heart of darkness and discover something in themselves they could not escape...
