Writer-Director Ron Shelton has brillantly explored the worlds of baseball - Bull Durham, basketball - White Men Can't Jump, and golf - Tin Cup. Now he takes on the toughest sport of all - boxing!
Best friends and boxing rivals, Banderas (Shrek 2) and Harrelson (After The Sunset), could have been contenders... but too many women and too much hard living has left their boxing careers all washed up. They haven't been paid to fight in years.
But a chance call from Las Vegas is about to change everything. They've been asked to open for a Mike Tyson fight if only they can get to Vegas that afternoon. The jackpot is one hundred grand split 50/50.
As they hit the road with Banderas' girfriend (Lolita Davidovich - Hollywood Homicide), they begin to realise the friend sharing the ride will soon be the opponent in the ring. And that's where the conflict starts.
In true Bull Durham style, Play It To The Bone is packed with explosive fighting action but at heart, it's a scorching and sometimes bitterly funny character study of men pushed to the edge, and over it.
Also starring Lucy Liu.
