1985, 500 minutes, Rated PG
During the turbulent days of the Great Depression, aspiring writer Tom Raynor, a country boy from Gundagai, arrives in Sydney to find work. But he encounters much more than just a job and lodgings when he arrives at the Dundee Palace, an inner-city pub owned by the Mendels, a family of Russian Jews. Beautifully told through Tom's eyes, Palace of Dreams is a poignant story of young love and youthful dreams, of a family both divided and united by shared tragedies and joys and a compelling account of the era in which it unfolds.
