Out of despair comes hope, out of heartbreak comes happiness. Starring Academy Award winner and most honoured Oscar nominee ever, Meryl Streep (One True Thing), this is the inspirational true story of a woman who defied the system and brought music and joy to those who needed it most.

Roberta Guaspari lived a happy, stable life, until her husband ran off with another woman. Left with two young sons to care for, Roberta, a gifted violinist, was encouraged to teach for the first time and decided to take her skills to underprivileged East Harlem children. It was a defining moment in everyone's lives, lifting Roberta beyond her sadness and showing the children beauty in an area where beauty is largely unknown. But when school funding for the project was cut, Roberta took on the system, culminating in a student performance that exceeded all expectation playing with the world's greatest violinists at Carnegie Hall.
