2000, 90 minutes, Rated G

When Ray Winkler (Woody Allen) was in prison, they called him "The Brain". They were being sarcastic but he was too dumb to realise. Now that Ray's back on the outside, he's masterminded the most daringly stupid heist New York has ever seen. Here's the plan: Gather together three other bumbling, moronic petty cons. Rent a shop two doors from a bank. Open a cookie shop fronted by his ex-stripper wife, Frenchie (Tracey Ullman) so it looks legit. Tunnel underground until they get to the bank. The plan couldn't be simpler. The execution couldn't be more hysterically inept. But somehow, through no fault of their own, Ray and his cronies get rich quick. Stinking rich in fact; and whoever said money can't buy good taste must've seen Ray in his white knock-off Versace suit and Frenchie her hideously over-decorated leopard-print boudoir. Now these dim-witted 'small time crooks' are the toast of New York's high society, but they're about to discover they're not the only cons on 5th avenue. In his sunniest, most outright funny comedy in years, Woody Allen skewers the nouveau riche, the old riche, the high-brows, the low-lifes, pretentiousness, bad taste and social disgrace.
