In 1861, the Southern Confederacy is formed and the American Civil War ignites. While the official military campaigns are being fought miles away, a band of guerrillas wages a battle all of its own. The guerrillas are the pro-Southern Bushwackers and new recruits, Jake Roedel (Tobey Maguire - The Cider House Rules) and Jack Bull Chiles (Skeet Ulrich - As Good As It Gets) are keen to fight against the onslaught of the North. With this unit, they will execute daring raids and savage attacks on Union soldiers and anyone who sympathises with them. But as the battles intensify, Jake and Jack are forced to count the cost of their brutality and soon discover that the price of freedom is far more than they ever expected to pay...
