1995, 87 minutes, Rated PG
Miss Bentley (Academy Award winner Vanessa Redgrave) has been holidaying on beautiful Lake Como since she was a child and naturally feels quite at home at this idyllic Italian resort. But this year is different. Her father, her long0time companion has recently died and it is her first time here on her own.
Perhaps that's why Miss Bentley feels inexplicably drawn to the new English visitor to the hotel, Major Wilshaw (Edward Fox - Stage Beauty, Nicholas Bickleby). Before time, the spirited Miss Bentley and the very proper English gent strike up a warm, if rather volatile relationship. That is until a young and very beautiful girl (Uma Thurman - Be Cool, Kill Bill) arrives and starts showing the major attention he cannot resist.
A captivating film from a story by H.E. Bates, author of "The Darling Buds Of May", with the charm of "Enchanted April" and the romance of "A Room With A View".
