As Scully prepares for the birth of her baby, a growing number of people are also secretly preparing. From the nurse Scully's mother hired to Alex Krycek, all are mysteriously concerned for the safety of Scully's unborn child. Krycek claims the baby is a threat to the aliens and offers his help, but his final confrontation with Mulder and Skinner ends in violence. Meanwhile, Scully and Agent Reyes flee to an unknown location only to have aliens descended upon them claiming Scully's baby as their own.
