Former author, Paul Freeman (Golden Globe-nominee Matthew Modine, What the Deaf Man Heard) now teaches creative writing at a local prison. One student who stands out is Charles (Emmy-nominee Obba Babatunde, The Temptations), a convicted murderer who, after twenty-four years behind bars, has proven himself a model prisoner. Sentenced to life in prison for abetting in a homicide, Charles now wants out. He needs to prove his worth as a model citizen as a model citizen but only one thing is stopping him; Sharon.
Sharon (Emmy-nominee Michele M. Green), is the victim's unyielding sister, who has devoted ehr life to ensuring that Charles would never be paroled. Through Paul's persuasion, she allows herself to finally make contact with the man she has loathed and feared all these years. It begins with a letter.
