Once upon a time, a dashing young British Army officer and a lovely student nurse fell deeply, magically in love. Then he was shipped off to Korea and they never heard from one another. Forty years later, fate brings them together again. Following a series of mishaps and misunderstandings, romance is rekindled and they many.
In Series Seven and Eight, married life for Jean and Lionel proves far from dull. Between failing eyesight and hearing problems; a shaggy dog adopting Lionel; wedding bells for Alistair and Judith; a surprise reappearance of an old flame of Jean's; technology and pension plans rattling Lionel's equilibrium; they still manage to make the best of things.
