David Lean's definitive version of the classic Dickens tale, stars British actor Alec Guinness as the pick-pocketing Fagin. Oliver is an orphan who runs away from his cruel London workhouse. Cold and hungry, he meets 'The Artful Dodger', a young and street-wise urchin who takes Oliver to meet his master, Fagin. Fagin houses lost young boys and in return they thieve for him. When Oliver is accused of stealing, he is acquitted and placed in the care of a loving family. He has found security for the first time in his life.
