High school student Kyle, is struggling to come to terms with the tragic loss of his best friend, when suddenly he is uprooted from his Southern Californian home and into the strikingly different environment of suburban Seattle.

Vulnerable and alone, Kyle is befriended by an extremely charismatic student at his new school, Shane. As Kyle is introduced to Shane's friends he becomes surrounded by boys whose loyalty borders on the fanatical and where drugs, acid edged rock music and pseudo-satanic rituals soon become his master.
