1998, 106 minutes, Rated M
It is 1941 and battlefields across Europe are raging. Churchill has dispatched the young men of England to fight the front, leaving Britain unmanned and vulnerable. A new regiment of tough, disciplined soldiers is required to protect The Mother Country and lay down their lives if necessary. But these are no ordinary soldiers. They are The Women's Land Army, or The Land Girls, as they become notoriously known.
This is the sweeping, bittersweet story of three of those Land Girls and the tragedies and triumphs they face. But behind the public heartache and glory of war, the private stories that are revealed are just as powerful and inspiring.
