Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction) stars as 1900, a baby abandoned aboard a splendid ocean liner and secretly taken into custody by the ship's compassionate coal stoker, who names him after the year in which he is born. In the years that follow, the adult 1900 becomes the toast of teh seas asa pianist of incomparable skill. Entertaining 2000-strong crowds, he even prevails in a contest iwth jazz great, Jelly Roll Morton. After falling in love with a beautiful immigrant, 1900 desperately yearns to follow her to the streets of New York City. Yet 1900, never ever leaves the confines of the ship and, decades later when the ship is docked in an English harbour waiting to be scrapped, one man searches for 1900, whom he believes is still on board...
