In the tradition of films like Hotel Rwanda and Cry Freedom comes this powerful and moving tale of truth, love and reconciliation from John Boorman - the acclaimed director of Deliverance and Hope And Glory.
In 1996, the South African government established the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate abuses of human rights under apartheid. These hearings would serve as a forum for those accused of murder and torture to be confronted by their victims and by admitting their guilt, be granted amnesty under Ubuntu, the native custom of forgiveness. Sent to cover these hearings, two journalists, Langston Whitfield (Samuel L. Jackson) and Anna Malan (Juliette Binoche), who, through their reporting of these extraordinary stoires about courage, compassion and redemption, inspire both the world and themselves, the experience of which draws them even closer to each other.
