Chile 1970s. While the country suffers secretly under the tyranny of a military dictatorship, the priveleged like Irene (Jennifer Connelly - Mulholland Falls), remain comfortable and ignorant. Then she meets Francisco (Antonio Banderas - Assassins) a photographer and political dissident. From that moment onwards, her life is irrevocably changed. So affected is she by their meeting, Irene ultimately goes against her mother, the church, the state and the secret police, risking her life and that of the man she loves, to uncover the truth about her country.

Set against a terrifying background of political turbulence, espionage and murder, Of Love and Shadows is an intriguing epic about a love that knows no boundaries and a courage which knows no fear.
