Would I Lie To You?Icon_movClass_M

2002, 97 minutes, Rated M

Paul Del Mar is a wealthy technology mogul who's looking for romance, but has trouble trusting that women are interested in anything but his ridiculously fat wallet. So, in the hope of weeding out gold diggers and finding true love, Paul pretends to be an average working class guy named Ernest. Yes to find that honest relationship he so desires, Paul lies. Unfortunately the ruse works so well, that when Paul really does meet the woman of his dreams, Olivia, he finds himself entangled in his deceit, unable to explain to her just who he really is.

Complicating matters is Guy, a wily con-artist who appropriates Paul's "Ernest" scheme in order to bag the luscious Sophie. To Guy's detriment Sophie believes that Ernest is a high flying adventurer, and insists that he prove his mettle before she will consider him romantically.

Soon, mistaken identity is taken to new heights, and with two "Ernest's" running about, things quickly go south for Paul. His every attempt to set things right and win the hand of the lovely Olivia seems to sink him deeper into the muck, especially with Olivia's over protective, loopy mother, Amelia. Adding to the confusion are a gaggle of horny foreign businessmen, a randy reverend, a pent up governess, a house full of prostitutes and an amorous llama, just to name a few of the characters who complicate Paul's misguided, but well intentioned quest in this romantic screwball farce, loosely inspired by Oscar Wild's The Importance of being Ernest.
