Set in 1980's Chicago, in the fast lane of American television news, Switching Channels is a fast-paced comedy revolving around an unlikely love triangle. Burt Reynolds plays Sully, a tenacious news editor, still working at the same station as his ex-wife, Christy (Kathleen Turner). When she announces her plans to leave both the job and the city to marry a wealthy New Yorker (Christopher Reeve), he suddenly realises that he cannot do without her, professionally and personally. So he sets about trying to stop her departure through a series of underhand tricks.
