Maxwell Bright is a misogynist. He's angry, unhappy and living in hell - otherwise known as suburban Los Angeles. After yet another destructive relationship, Maxwell decides that he should find himself a beautiful, docile Asian wife, so he signs on for a mail order bride. The lovely Mai Ling is more than Maxwell could have ever hoped for, but his ignorance of Eastern culture and his long-prevailing selfishness prevent the Beast from finding true happiness with his Beauty. It is only when Maxwell is forced to consider his own mortality that these two very different people can find their common ground.
