"This is the voyage of the mighty Bismarck. We're on a journey to explore Australia's largest river system, the Murray Darling. Captain is my friend Dr Tim Flannery palaeontologist, author and explorer And I'm designated first mate John Doyle.
For years we've dreamed of taking Tim's tinnie along the inland arteries to look, first hand, at the way the rivers have shaped the people and the people have shaped the rivers. Over the next five thousand clicks we'll get grounded, snagged and almost sunk. We'll visit places of sublime beauty. And other places of despair as we look at the state of the rivers in a land starved of water. For a city bloke, it would be the great adventures of my life. And you couldn't pick a better bloke, it would be one of the great adventures of my life. And you couldn’t pick a better bloke than Tim to share it with.
