Warren Beatty is Porter Stoddard, a successful New York architect who has been happily and smugly married to Ellie (Keaton) for 25 years. However when his best friend has an affair, Porter also gets the itch (so-to-speak) and promptly runs away to find himself - or anyone else who might be interested in him. But as Porter soon discovers, every lustful decision has its consequences and he will have to face every one, including the barrel of a gun!
