An intimate portrait of the legendary Townes Van Zandt - the ultimate songwriter's songwriter - Be Here To Love Me is a journey through haunting music and a troubled life. Labelled a problem child throughout his school-life, Townes was given shock therapy in his early 20s after he fell backward from a four-story window "just to see what it felt lie." The treatment burned out all of his memories of childhood making it difficult for Townes to connect to those around him. Though happily married, and surrounded by close friends, music was always closest to his heart and, with the soul of a traveller, Townes chose to live his life for his art: to "blow everything off... get a guitar and go!" Arguably it was this disconnection from the sources of his most deeply-held emotions that gave his songs their melancholy, redemptive power. A combination of interviews, never-before-seen performance footage and intimate portraits shot in Van Zandt's own home, Be Here To Love Me is a deeply moving documentary on one of the best songwriters of all time.
