1988, 115 minutes, Rated PG

For eighty thousand dollars, eight men broke all the rules...and the hearts of every kid in America.

JOHN CUSACK and CHARLIE SHEEN lead a superb ensemble cast that deliver "striking performances (The New York Times)", in this mesmerising film from director JOHN SAYLES that dramatises the infamous 1919 Chicago White Sox scandal.

Buck Weaver (Cusack) and Hap Felsch (Sheen) are idealistic young players with the Chicago White Sox - the pennant-winning team owned by penny-pinching manager Charles Comiskey. But when gamblers and hustlers discover that Comiskey's demoralised team are ripe for a money-making scheme, Weaver and Felsch become part of a conspiracy to throw the World Series. They do...and when the story breaks, it creates national outrage and becomes one of the most controversial chapters in the history of professional sports.
