At the height of the Second World War, The Blonde Bombshells helped keep the spirits of the nation alive. With their swinging tunes and sultry good looks they offered a glamorous respite from the shrill of the air raid sirens.
This is how Elizabeth (Judi Dench), the youngest and most talented Bombshells, recalls those time. And when her husband dies fifty years on, she's determined to recapture the same spirit.
A chance encounter with Patrick (Ian Holm) - the only male member of the band - gives her the idea of reforming the band. But as Elizabeth and Patrick quickly discover, life has taken its toll on this collection of very different people.
Nonetheless, an all star cast are charmed, cajoled and bribed into playing together one last time.
