Based on the novels by H.E Bates this is the stoy of the indestruclbel Larkin family who lead an idyllic, if somehwat flamboyant existence in 1950s England. A life coloured by the flirtatious ways fo the beautiful daughter Marietta (Zeta-Jones), the ill-fated entrepreneurial adventures of Pop Larken (David Jason) and the fierce devotion of each family member to one another.
