The year is 1999. On the road to Paris a young woman, Claire, encounters a mysterious stranger, Sam, who is on a dangerous mission for his father, Their brief encounter begins an obsession, which takes Claire on a chase around the world. Gradually, more and more people join the chase, including Claire's ex-lover Eugene. In a deadly race against time, with the world on the brink of a global confrontation, Claire and Sam head for the Australian outback where Sam's father has a research facility. Sam's journey has furnished images for his father's invention, which will allow blind people to see them. But will it work? As their airplane sets off into the outback there is a flash in the sky. The engine cuts off. Is it the end of the world?
