Dan Gillis (Goldblum) is an American screenwriter living in Paris who was recently abandoned by his wife and is trying to take care of his son Danny. A commission to write a script comes from a successful producer with whom he has worked in the past. However, on this occasion, he is being asked to write an unconventional story for a young and unknown film director. Despite the reticence of Marilyn (Richardson), Dan's beautiful but disabled agent, he is convinced to accept the work due to the Producer's insistence and the intriguing personality of the young director. Malcolm (Fletcher).

After Dan discovers that there is more at stake than just a movie, his life will be changed. He immerses himself in the closed universe of incestuous relations surrounding Malcolm and his beautiful young sister Jenny. Dan becomes infatuated with Jenny which forces him to search for clues about the making of the film. He discovers that he has been caught within a web of greed and ambition from which he has little hope of escaping.
