After her father dies in a horse riding accident, a displaced city girl named Cheryl (Danielle Keaton) is sent to live with a foster family on a large farm in the country where the gruff patriarch (Dean Stockwell) takes her in as one of his own. It's here that Cheryl meets the farm's magnificent horse named after the famous steed from her favourite book. With the help of the family's freespirited son (Chris Hunter), Cheryl learns to face her fear of horses and race once again. But just as she starts to rebuild her life, the corrupt Mayor (Peter Jason) conspires to take the farm away from her new family. Now it's up to Cheryl & Black Beauty to save those she has come to love.
