2006, 90 minutes, Rated MA
Inspired by the notorious awards of the same name, The Darwin Awards is a riotous look at people who risk their lives pursuing senseless acts, and end up improving the human gene pool by removing themselves from it.
Michael Burrows (Joseph Fiennes) is a brilliant but overly cautious forensic detective who decides to turn his fascination with the Awards into a vocation. He is paired with Siri Taylor (Winona Ryder), an audacious insurance claims investigator. Together they travel the country in an attempt to develop a personality profile of potential Darwin Award types. Featuring re-enactments of some of the most famous Awards, The Darwin Awards explores the extremes only a few human beings dare to pursue.
