2000, 90 minutes, Rated PG
The family of big city girl Courtney Docherty (Kate Bosworth - Blue Crush, Win A Date With Tad Hamilton, Superman Returns) run into financial difficulties and must relocate to a small American town to start over. Her father (Matt McCoy - Beethoven's 4th, Deep Star Six, L.A. Confidential) discovers that the job he was promised is no longer waiting for him, so his wife must take a low paying job despite her husband's objections. Courtney and her brother Sam have trouble finding new friends and adjusting to the slow paced life of country living, with the local boys deciding Sam is better off an enemy rather than a friend.
The family is ostracized by their new neighbours, particularly Mack (Jeff Fahey - Wyatt Earp, Darkman Ill, The Lawnmower Man) who lives across the street, but in this small town roles are reversed when a joke the local misfits attempt to play on Sam backfires, forcing him to make a life or death decision that will affect the lives of his whole family and everyone around him. This heart-warming tale of acceptance, bravery, redemption and the power of friendships and family, also features Chris Evans (Fantastic Four, The Perfect Score, Cellular) in his first film role.
