Terry Gilliam, (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Brazil, Twelve Monkeys) creates a surreal adventure with his adaptation of Mitch Cullin's classic novel.
When her mother dies of an overdose, young Jeliza-Rose embarks on a strange journey with her father, Noah - a rock 'n' roll musician well past his prime. Drifting between reality and fantasy, Jeliza-Rose escapes the vast loneliness of her new home into a dream world that exists in her imagination, where fireflies have names, bog-men awaken, squirrels talk, and the decapitated heads of dolls keep her company. As optimistic as it is surreal, as humorous as it is suspenseful, Tideland is a celebration of the power of a child's imagination.
