Ex-cop Ray Keene (Cusack), a recently widowed father, and his wayward son are on a hike to better their relationship when they stumble upon a fatally injured FBI agent and his prisoner - military trained assassin Frank Cardin (Freeman). Instead of just letting Cardin walk, Ray, wanting to see justice fulfilled, decides to escort his new prisoner to the nearest police station. But Frank's team of loyal mercenaries aren't willing to let their boss go to jail without a fight.
