God Is Great, I'm Not (Dieu Est Grand, Je Suis Toute Petite)Icon_movClass_M

2001, 98 minutes, Rated M

Michele, a 20 year old, who just broke up with her boyfriend, is at a low point in her life. To bounce back, she goes on a spiritual quest to believe in something, if not... in someone. Catholicism does not answer her needs, and Buddhist meditation literally puts her to sleep! Then, she meets Francois, a Jewish veterinarian. Although he is ambivalent about his own faith, their relationship leads Michele to study the Torah and consider converting.

In this light and fluid comedy, Audrey Tautou (Amelie, Dirty Pretty Things) plays with her usual childlike grace to tackle the questions of faith, both in herself and in God, and brings to the foreground all the thousand little ways in which men and women miscommunicate and evolve on different 'lanes.
