Based on the historical work "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich"", "The Nightmare Years" tells the story of William Shirer, an American journalist, who during his time as a foreign press reporter in the 1930s Germany had to deal with the growing oppression of the Nazi regime.
He witnesses increasing censorship of the press and the suppression of truth. With the twisted greed of the Nazi Party and the prospect of another World War, Shirer battles to escape to America with his German wife and child during the last days of peace.
