Ever since their mother died, Melissa Brennan and her sister Kate don't get along. Total opposites, Melissa is the sexy bad girl who drops out of sight for months at a time, while Kate is the responsible older sister who's got her life under control. Melissa's wild lifestyle comes to a deadly end the night she witnesses the murder of her rich boyfriend by a gang of unknown assailants.
Narrowly escaping with her life, Melissa runs to Kate for help. Burned by her little sister in the past, Kate turns her away, not sensing the seriousness of the situation. Melissa runs off without telling her sister her horrible secret. The same day her sister leaves, Kate meets a handsome new client, Luke Forster, who takes a sudden interest in her personal life. Charmed by his show of sensitivity, Kate tells him all about her problems with Melissa.
Soon Kate finds herself threatened by thugs looking for Melissa. With the help of Luke, she launches an investigation to find her sister before the killers can. The case gets even more complicated after the police accuse Melissa of killing her boyfriend for his money. Now Kate must race against the clock to catch the real killers and prove her sister's innocence. But all the while, Kate can't help but wonder if she might be falling for another of her sister's scams.
The investigation leads Kate deep into a seedy underworld of strip clubs, meth labs and money-laundering operations-all linked to the murder. Meanwhile, she begins to suspect that Luke might be too good to be true. When her missing sister resurfaces, Luke secretly betrays them, telling the mobsters who hired him where to find her. But when the killers come to finish the job, Luke has a change of heart. Now he must make the ultimate sacrifice to help keep the sisters safe from harm.
