For 10 years, the mystery surrounding a grizzly double murder in a New Zealand country farmhouse was aggravated by false testimony and contradictory evidence. After an unprecendented: two .trials, farmer Arthur Thomas was finally found guilty in controversial circumstances. But when British investigative writer David Yallop took interest in the bizarre case, his book, Beyond. Reasonable Doubt, shed important light on a perplexing homicide.
This compelling adaptation of the influential book, filmed in the mystery-thriller style of Fritz Lang's noir classic of the same name; shows how a tough cop, hell-bent on a conviction, manipulated: murder evidence in an effort to get his man. David Hemmings (Gladiator) brings a chillingly vindictive venom to the role of cop; while John Hargreaves (Don's Party) is brilliant as the bewildered Thomas, a simple young farmer who can't believe what's happening to him.
