"It Was The Romance That Led To The Abdication Of A King"

When Wallis Simpson meets Edward, Prince of Wales, he is charmed by her flirtatious and straight-talking manner. Soon infatuated with the twice-married American, the future King begs her to divorce her husband Ernest.  George V dies and Edward becomes King, but he has no desire to give up Wallis for a life of royal duty.

As a constitutional crisis grips the nation, Edward and the British government lock horns when Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin tells him that the British public will not accept Wallis as Queen. Edward threatens to abdicate. Wallis feels little more than a pawn between the opposing sides and begs Edward to remain King. But Edward feels forced to choose between his royal destiny and
the woman he loves.
