Gino Santangelo is a small-time New York bootlegger during the depression, when an unlikely affair with a Park Avenue socialite opens his eyes to a dazzling world of new business opportunities.

After prohibition, Gino seizes the chance to start his own liquor company, breaking with partner Enzio Bonnati who turns to the underworld rackets of prostitution and drugs. Gino has the instincts of a winner and is soon welcoming guests to his own New York nightclub. By 1946, he stakes everything on Las Vegas' first gambling casino. Gino thrives on taking chances - in business and in love.
