Stranded after their car dies on a deserted country road, Cassie Osborne (Mia Sara) and her daughter, Samantha, are picked up byan affable gas station owner, Roy Scudder (Burt Reynolds). He offers to take them back to his house while he repairs their car. But the moment they meet Roy's beautiful wife Georgina (Angie Dickinson) and their foul-mouthed daughter they know that something is terribly wrong. This strange family is hiding a dark secret and Cassie and Samantha are suddenly captives in the Scudder's twisted world of insanity. Their only hope is Cassie estranged husband David Osborne (Brian Wimmer) who begins a frantic search for his wife and daughter. The police however are chasing David as they suspect him in his wife's disappearance. The Story twists and turns in a whirlwind of terror, as Roy Scudder and his family draw you into The Maddening.
