An intimate and poignant portrait of love and self discovery, 'Never Ever' is a romantic drama that suggests "we don't choose the one we love."
'Never Ever' recounts several crucial months in the life of Thomas Murray (Charles Finch), a successful investment banker whose career is on the rise while his marriage to the beautiful, yet cool and manipulative Amanda (Jane March) has become increasingly sterile.
Given an important new position in Paris by his boss and father-in-law Arthur Trevane (James Fox), Thomas learns that he will not be accompanied by the spoiled Amanda who "hates Paris" and has no intention of disrupting her busy social life in London.
A chance encounter with Katherine (San-Drine Bonnaire), a vivacious and unpretentious woman changes everything. Captivated by her natural radiance, Thomas realises 'some-
thing' is happening between them and to avoid deceiving her he admits to being married. Katherine, in turn, makes it clear that she is not looking for complications in her life. Fatefully, the two 'friends' agree to have dinner.
The couple soon find themselves hopelessly carried away by the strength of their feelings, until Amanda's unexpected arrival in Paris shatters their idyll.
When Thomas breaks the news of his love affair to Amanda she retaliates by attempting suicide. At the hospital where she is recovering, Arthur makes it quite clear to his son-in-law that he expects him to save the marriage and his career.
