"Murder...Between the lines."

Jade Harper is a successful Manhattan novelist who struggles with a mild schizo-affective disorder.

Confronted by what she believes to be her husband's infidelity and an inexplicable desire to go home, Jade returns to her small town of Hopewell, California. Once there, she gets in touch with her elementary school teacher, Mrs. Copperfield, who inspires her to write a book of the history of the town.

Jade immerses herself into her research, but quickly finds that she is distracted by the history of her own family. While searching through local papers, and reading the journals of her old school friend Samantha's grandmother, Jade uncovers a web of inconsistencies in the reported deaths of her relatives. Soon she comes to believe that these were not a series of accidents, as they were once reported, but a chain of murders - her grandmother, her grandfather, her mother...

Coinciding with the numerous ghostly and frightening experiences, Jade's illness begins to spiral dangerously out of control, forcing her to question if there is a "beyond-the-grave" connection to the truth, or whether this is all in her head brought on by her disease? Could it be the stress of facing her estranged father, who still holds Jade responsible for the death of her mother when Jade was a little girl? Or could it just be the overactive imagination of a writer?

Armed with facts collected from police records and clues shown to her by mysterious presences, Jade has all the information she needs to prove that murders were committed - but no one believes her. And with her deteriorating condition, Jade begins to doubt herself. But if she's right... she is the next in line to die.
