Helen Mirren stars in this gripping political thriller about a plot to assassinate Mikhail Gorbachev at the beginning of his reign as leader of the Soviet Union. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, a Soviet hardliner, afraid that Glasnost will give Gorbachev unprecedented powers, plots an elaborate attempt to take him down. The CIA soon discovers the plan and sends in former agent Stoner to prevent the assassination. In a race against time, Stoner must join forces with a former enemy and an old flame to thwart the deadly scheme.
